Weekend Preview

All the weekend action from around the club and community

It is Super Saturday in the Six Nations so there is no senior rugby this weekend but there is still plenty of action for our other teams in the Club.

On Sunday morning our mini and junior “Bulldogs” will once again take the field in various fixtures in all different age groups. It is always a pleasure to watch these children play the game in the right spirit. So what a better way than to walk off them Six Nation hangovers than get on to the playing paddocks around Beddau and give these youngsters our deserved support.

DARTS

Our darts team continue their quest for the Pontyclun & District Darts league winter title this Friday with an away game at the Mounters.

Lenny’s Lions are currently in second place in the table and just three points behind old rivals Ogmore A with a game in hand.

Last time the teams met was in the reverse fixture at the Clubhouse back in December where Beddau took the points with a 6-1 (12-4 legs) victory. The Mounters occupy ninth place with five wins from their nineteen games played this season.

With just three weekends of the regular season to play plus the re-arranged game with Tonyrefail RFC to sort out, Beddau need a big win this Friday. The players will appreciate any support at the Mountain Hare pub for the game which kicks off at 8.15pm.

FOOTBALL

Cwm Welfare will be looking for more of the same on Saturday after they put on an excellent home performance last weekend to get themselves out of the bottom three of the Welsh league division three.

Tom Holder and Geraint Williams both hit doubles with the evergreen Craig Roberts also hitting the back of the net in the 5-1 triumph over Caerleon.
This Saturday they face the first of two games against a Trefelin outfit who are just two points above them in the table. A win away in Aberdare would be a huge boost for Cwm as they look to stay in the Welsh football league.

Trefelin have played seventeen games this season winning six, drawing four and losing seven.

Kick-off is 2.30pm.

ENTERTAINMENT

What a weekend of live sporting action on TV and you can watch it all live in HD on the many big screens and large TV’s around the Clubhouse.

There is International under 20s rugby action on Friday followed by the big Super Saturday of Six Nations rugby which all starts at 12.30pm with Wales game in France kicking off at 2.45pm and to finish the rugby off Ireland will be hoping to stop England take the Grand Slam at 5pm. If that’s not enough then there is lots of Premiership football action all weekend. If you want a break from the sport then there will be the regular Sunday afternoon / evening vocalist live in the bar from 5.30pm onwards and all free for guests and bonafide members.

LOTTERY

The Club lottery draw again takes place on Monday evening so don’t forget to pick up your lucky lotto tickets at the Club over the Six Nations weekend. For just a £1 you could earn yourself a nice little jackpot. Remember you got to be in it to win it!!!

If you are not a winner then at least you know that your £1 is going to the Club development fund.

Have a great weekend.
