BIGGLESWADETOWN 0 v KETTERING TOWN 0

Report by Mike Draxler

There were no goals, an excess of atmosphere, drama and sheer guts and determination. A Kettering crowd behind Liam Gooch making lots of noise, which I believe gave the young keeper even more resolve to not let that ball pass by.
The football from the boys in green a joy to watch, grounded passes, quick incisive and productive as Connor Hall had shots on target from distance. Craig Daniel running right wing, cutting in for a shots. George Bailey a real thorn in the side of the Kettering defenders. The visitors did their bit but certainly did not dominate the Waders as they would have liked. On 25 Aaron O'Connor broke from his own half chased by Craig Daniel, as they got to the box Daniel was adjudged to have fouled the Kettering 8, a penalty. Up steps Wader's favourite from last season Rhys Hoenes, we all know what he can do, except for Liam Gooch who threw himself to his left, low down to push the ball away to safety. It was Gooch's night as a spectacular one handed save to his right followed minutes later. At half time not only the players in need of a rest but an exhausted crowd.
Out for the second 45, Kettering pushed up a gear. The Kettering supporters now at the easterly end of the ground making even more noise trying their best to distract Gooch. To no avail as the Kettering front men could not get a clear sight at goal. Frustrating the visitors, Biggleswade showed real steel to deny what the boys in red had come for. 3 points.
