U7s continue on winning ways with stand in coach, ref and despite detours!

Turned up at LSH after a fairly long diversion around country lanes due to roadworks right at the junction of the A580 and the turnoff for LSH to find they only had 5 players at 10.30am. By 11am they had 8 so, and after a structured and intensive warm up (comments overheard on the touch line-not) we were ready and chomping at the bit to take them on. They asked if I would ref so out came the whistle-game on.

Blackburn white shot straight out of the blocks scoring in quick succession and blitzing the opposition in defence, forcing errors and pushing them back. After a couple of minutes Blackburn relaxed and stood off LSH only to be shocked by a length of the pitch try by their best player, a beautifully balanced runner who jinked in and out of our defence to score. He was however very temperamental and after diving for Blackburn tags and hitting the deck went off for the rest of the first match. With Blackburn back on track the tries were coming thick and fast with all scoring at least one. Great support play was the order of the day and many of the tries came after the ball was recycled. Defence continued to pressure LSH with Scott organising them well and it was pleasing to see them pounce on loose balls and recycle and score. Final score 12-1.

After a 10 mins rest for LSH the blue team started with Andy organising them. Again Blackburn were straight out of the blocks with some good running and recycling. The blue team was just missing a bit of cutting edge and whilst were good in defence stood off LSH a bit and allowed them to play a little. A few errors crept into the game on both sides and I tried to keep the game flowing but was not helped with LSH running with ball in one hand, not giving tags back and both teams being off side. After a bit of a talk to both sides things improved and a final score of about 12-6 to Blackburn.
