Brightlingsea Regent edge a close home encounter against a strong physical Enfield team thanks to a world class volley from Billy Hunt.
Regent started the game in excellent fashion and were easily the better of the two teams in the opening exchanges.
The R's went ahead after 12 minutes when Phil Kelly chased a lost cause and kept a ball alive wide left to steal a corner, the delivery was on the money by Freddie Gard which found the head of Josh Gould to convert through a crowded box.
Regent could have doubled their lead on the half hour mark when Aaron Condon played a neat through ball for Kelly to chase onto and winning the race from the oncoming Enfield keeper Joe Wright but his effort sneaked wide.
Enfield started the second half with a lot more attacking intent, the Towners deservedly levelled on after 57 minutes when a deep cross was met by the head of the towering Simon Thomas to head unposed downwards past Sam Cowler.
With the game heading for a draw, but to moment of absolute magic from Billy Hunt. A freekick wide right for the R's was centred into the area, this was met by an Enfield head. Connor Hogan tried to keep the ball alive which was cleared again to the edge of the box where Billy Hunt stood poised and unleashed a left foot thunderbolt which crashed home off the bar.
Regent complete three straight wins in the league and find themselves up to 10th in the league!
This coming Tuesday we head to Billericay Town looking to continue our excellent league run of three wins
