Game day one v FC Deportivo Galicia

1st GAME SEASON 2017

New season, new team to play against, the sun was out and it was game day!
We go! Season 2017-18 underway.

After an up and down preseason and our first entry into the FA Cup starting thing off with a lost. today's opponents where an unknown and could have been a surprise package .

The starting line was strong.
Charlie, Nana, Ben (c) Al,Connor
Sam,James, Brandon
Dayo, Brad, Joe

Then Bench Included
Josh, Lekan, Adam Aimable, Adam Angus and Steve (GK)

The game started at a good pace, and the home side were on top,pressing high, which was causing a few issues for the away side defence and pattern , who were trying to play out from the back.

After a few chances fell to Brad, Joe Dayo, it looked like the home team could be in good place for the win bt it was going to be an interesting first game .

But mid way through the half FC Deportivo Galica produced a passage of play which lead to a 25-30 yard strike which fizzed passed Charlie, to make it 1 nil (with their first ever game at this level) a little against the play.
A chance to equalise cam from the award of a penalty for pulling down Dayo. Brad stepped up but a good save by the goalie kept the score line one nil to the away side

Second half started with Adam Aimable replacing Dayo.
The pattern was very much the same the boars pressing high causing the away defensive issues , but the away side were still produced some attractive football, which kept our back four on their toes through out the game.

The equaliser came through some good play to put Brad through, striking it under the keeper to make it 1-1.
This put the home side on the front foot and a few chances came to the front three but nothing was taken.

The introduction of Lekan for Brad and Josh for Brandon give some extra pace in the wide positions, which lead to a succession of long throws and corners. The pressure was building and this paid off with Sam crossing a corner to his brother in the box, the scramble lead to the ball hitting the back of the net to make it 2-1
minutes later another quick long throw from Connor found Joe goal side of the defence, his cross give Lekan his debut goal, an easy side foot tap in. 3-1.

As the game closed out, a lack of concentration allow the away side to get a second goal.

Final score 3-2

Good reply to going down early to an goal, with some good performances.

Next up mid week away to Ash United, who beat us 3 nil late in the run in last time out, time to reverse that.
