Frustrating weekend for CUP as both teams suffer defeats

1sts lose 3 - 1 at home to Cambridge City Development, Reserves lose 3 - 2 at Newmarket Town Reserves

It was another frustrating weekend for CUP FC as both teams suffered league defeats.

The 1st team hosted strugglers Cambridge City Development at the Cass, hoping to build on the previous Saturday's win and start another good run of form. For 70 minutes they looked comfortable with the game even at 1 - 1, before the visitors picked up two further goals to claim a 3 - 1 win. Dan was the on the scoresheet once again. CUP stay 7th in the Prem.

The Reserves were left to rue another poor start and sloppy defending from set pieces, as they lost 3 - 2 at fellow mid-table side Newmarket Town Reserves. CUP were 2 behind in 25 minutes, although went into half time on the front foot. Two early goals in the second half, from Ollie and Ben J, put the Reserves level, before conceding what turned out to be a winner only 90 seconds later. CUP drop 9th in Senior B after their fourth narrow defeat in a row.

The Reserves now have 2 weeks before their next match, so it's only the 1sts in action this Saturday as they host Comberton United in the league.
