Match report

The game started with Carniny pushing forward but not playing with any rhythm resulting in few clear cut chances up front. St Mary’s caught Carniny on the break and a good run down their left gave their striker an easy tap in from a great cross. Carniny pushed and could have equalised but somehow the keeper kept out efforts from Turner and I Wylie. An injury to Scullion forced some changes and despite having the majority of the possession, Carniny couldn’t equalise and the half ended 1-0.

The second half started in the same manner with T Wylie patrolling the midfield excellently. His partner White also covered a lot of ground and a chance was created for McClean but it flashed wide. With St Mary’s pinned they countered quickly a few times and got through to leave Elliott stranded for 2-0.

A disappointing result for the lads and the first time they have failed to score this season but shows they must improve the quality of their passing and also fitness to compete in SBYL.

Panel - Elliott, Douglas, Calvert, Scullion, Turner, I Wylie, McKee, Greer, McClean, White, Murray, Millar
