Chasetown 1 Lincoln United 3
Chasetown made a positive start and an early Josh Sedgley effort whizzed past the post.
The Scholars had a strong penalty appeal turned down when a Will Whieldon shot appeared to strike a defender's hand.
The hosts had nine players making full debuts. One of those debutants George Cater beat three players and chipped goalwards only for Jake Turner to save by his near post.
Lincoln took the lead against the run of play. Curtis Pond made a splendid near post save but Phil Watt netted the rebound.
Turner denied a Chasetown equaliser with a superb save to keep out Sedgley’s long range effort.
Chasetown won a free kick on the edge of the box right at the start of the second half and Jimmy O’Neill’s kick was a whisker over the crossbar.
Lincoln doubled their lead just before the hour with Matthew Cotton sliding home a right footer from inside the box.
Chasetown finally reduced the deficit with a long range free kick from Will Whieldon. But their comeback hopes were dashed by Lincoln immediately adding a third from Jack Wightwick almost straight from kick off.
