Chi score 8 tries to beat Edenbridge 50 - 10

By

second win of the season

Lovely day for a spot of travelling over to Edenbridge for the second match of the season. We've never played Edenbridge previously so this was again an unknown test and the boys were again a mix of new and old players in the squad still finding our feet with the positions.

From kick off Chichester looked sharp, I would go on to describe what they first couple of phases of play was but I was still parking the car so all I do know is that both Jamie and Louis both scored tries within the first 6 minutes! Luckily I had reached the pitch by the time Louis again stormed through the Edenbdrige line from the near halfway point to run try number 3 in under the posts and slot over the conversion. Passing was sharp and crisp with the attacks fast and furious from Chi hitting Edenbridge at pace constantly. Next to break through was Izaak who, with impressive speed for a forward, broke through the line and charged down the pitch evading Edenbridge players to score a fabulous try which Louis again converted. Edenbridge were still giving it absolutely everything and it was their turn to get the ball to their centres and break through the Chichester line at halfway and get through our defense to score their first try. There was still 10minutes left of the half and Chichester were back on the attack this time with Lewis picking up from the back of the scrum, spotting the Edenbridge defensive gap and over the line for another try which Louis converted. Last few minutes of the half and a great last push up the nearside of the pitch saw Ed offload to Will who slotted it over for the 6th try of the half.

The second half saw Edenbridge come out positive as ever and pick up on Chichester's lack of focus after the break. Mistakes were creeping in from the Chi boys but stuck in their own 22 having turned over the ball Louis took the chance and dodged past a number of Edenbridge players outrunning their wingers and fullback to score try number 7 and his hatrick. A sloppy period of play from Chi and good solid play from Edenbridge saw their centres again break through and evade lacklustre tackling by Chi to score their second deserved try. Edenbrdige definitely upped their game in the second half and Chichester were penalised for penalty after penalty, lucky not to concede another try before the last couple of minutes making one last effort and attacking Edenbridges line with a scrum at the 5 metre point having had a try attempt held up. Lewis passed crisply out to Will at 10 who ran on at full pace and straight through the tackles to touchdown for the final 8th try of the game which Louis converted.

Edenbridge played with total commitment, their heads never went down, great positive spirit and should be commended on their sportsmanship and team spirit - a great example of team rugby played to the final whistle.

50 - 10 the final score
Tries : 8 - Jamie, Louis x 3, Lewis, Izaak, Will x 2
Conversions : Louis x 5
