Another determined performance but came in second.
Chippenham gathered for this local tussle on this gorgeous spring day, away at RWB with an early ko and a full team subs too. Chippenham with yet again with new combinations working well started well and were on the front foot from great pressure RWB conceded a penalty for off side in the 22 m and to the side of the posts Joe Bodman slotted over great start. RWB responded with try of their own. Chippenham game plan was too keep it tight as much as possible first phase was working well Joe Bodman was linking up well with Michael Smith at fly half. In loose play yet again Toby Clarke was showing up well and being a nuisance. RWB broke through our defence to score a couple of tries. Mark Kilby put the disappointment of last weeks game behind him for the 2 nds and was safe and assured under the high ball great game.Leigh Lawrence but in a great tackle good effort big man. A funny moment did happen when the RWB second row went charging down the wing swiping off challenges and was lucky not too score. Peter Johnstone playing his first game for a few years was unlucky in a tackle stopped the RWB progress but suffered a dead leg soldiered on till half time. Half time came time for Chippenham to regroup Peter Johnstone was replaced by Joe Toye on the wing lets hope no injury as Bath Half sat [note Matt Spurway]. Andy Cunnington came on for James Harding to give him a rest. RWB made numerous changes what a luxury. Jon Storey was loving his new position this week @ no 8. Chippenham did have some go forward and again Bobby Dazzler Clifford was working well with Darren Hubbard in the centre. RWB scored again breaking through poor tackling. James came back on for Leigh. Chippenham showing great fight from a great scrum position on the front foot and the impressive Toby Clarke found his way to the try line fantastic try converted by Joe Bodman. RWB had the last say scoring a brace of tries. Great effort time now for the England RFU game. Thanks to the referee, players playing out of position Dave Nickson, Joe Toye. Rick McCabe rolling back the years. Thank you to all we gave RWB a game!! Man of the match: Bobby dazzler Clifford. No game 18th March - 6 nations @ CRFC clubhouse.
