Chard Burnt At The Vale

By

To Hot To Handle !

Clevedon demolished basement side Chard at the Vale as nine tries from the home side proved a real crowd pleaser. Clevedon took the lead early on with two long range penalties from Kieran Hill and the hosts moved further ahead when Rory Biggins scored in the corner after some good forward play.
The Seasiders scored again with a well worked back line move which saw Aaron Rice slice through the Chard defence to score in the corner, converted Kieran Hill, 18-0.
Chards lively pack now enjoyed a period of possession but Clevedon defended well and they were next to score when a well timed pass to Dean Ashfield saw him power through the Chard defence, to score under the posts, converted by Hill, half time 25-0.
Clevedon started the second half as they finished the first and some slick handling saw Kieran Hill cross the line, which he then converted 32-0.Try number five saw Ben Williams cap a fine performance, with the try of the game, when a perfectly timed inside line saw him score under the posts, Hill converted 39-0.
Chard never gave up and were rewarded with a try from a catch and drive, 39-5.
The Seasiders scored next when a break from Hill saw him offload to Cameron Maslen for try number 6, Hill converted 46-5. The flood gates now opened and Aaron Rice scored the next two tries in quick succession, to complete his hat trick with some powerful running which the Chard defence could not contain, Hill converted both 60-5.
The final try was scored by Tim Statton and Kieran Hill capped a fine afternoon by duly converting to make the final score 67-5.
Head Coach Nick Hill commented "We played some good stuff today, particularly in the second half, it's not always easy to play against strugglers as sometimes they can drag you down to their level. They definitely made us work up front but our set piece improved as the game went on and our backs, on this form, would be a match for anyone." No game next week but the club are hosting a Cider and Sausage festival on Friday, Saturday and Sunday, see the club website for further details.
