The First Team came away from a sun drenched Talbot Field with all 3 points after beating Berriew 2-1. Manager Chris Davies had brothers Luke Holt and Harry Holt available for the game after they both missed last weekends victory over Aberaeron.
We started brightly and went ahead inside 15 minutes. Jordan Jones slipped in Richie Evans, his powerful shot went through the hands of the Berriew keeper and into the net to give us the lead. Berriew equalised 10 minutes later, Kris Williams made a fantastic one on one save but the ball fell nicely to their winger who fired the ball into an empty net. Steve Jones fired over the bar from distance moments later as we looked to retake the lead. We should have gone ahead moments later, a well worked set piece found Drew Reynolds all alone, his header went inches past the post though as the game stayed all square. We went ahead 5 minutes before half time. Steve Jones chested the ball into the path of Richie Evans, with time and space he fired the ball into the bottom corner to give us the lead.
The second half was a scrappy affair with very few clear cut chances. Jordan Jones fired across goal after a fine breakaway move, Harry Holt fired just wide and Richie Evans dragged a shot off target after beating three Berriew defenders inside the box. Keeper Kris Williams made one save to deny the Berriew striker as he tipped a shot wide. In the final twenty minutes Berriew resulted to long balls, we held out though for all three points.
