2 Wins and a Draw for Nomads Academy in the Academy Cup

By Jay Catton

Another competitive weekend of fixtures for our academy against Airbus, Fredrikstad, Preston, Crewe and Cefn Druids.

Last weeks games program kicked off with our Nomads Academy Coleg Cambria scholars side hosting Fredrikstad from Norway on Monday evening at The Quay 3G.

A great international fixture to host which saw two competitive sides play out a two all draw.

Our scholars continued their good form last Wednesday when they travelled away to Preston College in the British College cup and came away six three winners with Jacob Barratt grabbing four of the six goals.

The next action kicked off Saturday with our under 8 and 11 sides hosting Airbus UK Broughton with two wins in good fixtures.

Our under 18s travelled away that afternoon to play Penyffordd in the senior premier cup losing three one after being one all into the final stages of the games Penyffordd grabbed two late goals to seal progression into the next round.

Our mini sides continued their action Sunday away to Crewe with our under 9, 10 and 11 teams putting in solid performances away to the football league club. Under 9s in particular performed to a very high level.

Sunday saw our under 15s fall to a two nil home defeat to Airbus UK Broughton in one of four games at The Quay 3G on Sunday.

Our academy cup teams completed the day of action with our under 16s playing out a two all draw against Airbus, our under 14s continued their great start to the academy cup with a six nil win over Airbus and our under 12s recorded a nine three win over Cefn Druids.

A good start to the academy cup which now resumes in February 2018 for all three of our sides who aim to make top four of Super Six and then the finals.

Yesterday evening our under 9s and 10s hosted Airbus. Our 9s ran out comfortable winners with a narrow defeat for our U10s in what is always a very high stand age group game.

Our under 13s game vs Airbus was unfortunately postponed as they were unavailable and our under 19s fixture away to Flint was postponed due to water logged pitch.
