Academy Team of the Week - Monday 4th December 2017

By Jay Catton

Following another busy week of action this weeks team of the week has been announced.

Under 8 – Josh Anderton

Josh was in terrific form in defense against an u9 team with good forwards. Josh made countless interceptions with great reading of the game, didn't miss a tackle and played from the back with composure. (James Duff U8 Coach)

Under 9 – Connor Dean

Connor worked tirelessly against Airbus on Monday and in our friendly game on Friday evening chipping in with a few goals. (Craig Griffiths U9 Coach)

Under 10 – Liam Ellis

Liam was very composed in possession on Saturday vs Flint, in the teams first taste of 9v9 football he was also very good positionally and controlled the game from central midfield. Well done Liam. (Ben NashU10 Coach)

Under 11 – Ryan Davies

Ryan who just signed last Thursday caused Flint trouble all game up top, his work rate and attitude both on and off the ball, pressing every loose ball was good to see, to top it off he bagged himself a hatrick.(Jason Bell U11 Coach)

Under 12 – Charlie Price

Charlie gave a solid performance on Friday night against Flintshire and followed it up Sunday in Futsal. He looked strong, assured in defence and comfortable on the ball in tight spaces bagging himself 2 goals! Well done Charlie! (Leighton Sumner U12 Coach)

Under 13 – No Game

Under 14 – Jake Harper

A real threat going forward in fridays game fantastic energy from full back and defensively sound , also stepping up to 15s on Sunday and producing a fine performance. Well done Jake. (Dale Johnson U14 Coach)

Under 15– Adam Pettitt

Adams work rate as a right FB is phenomenal on and off the ball ,makes solid tackles in crucial areas and has fantastic footwork when in possession, the result does not reflect the performance from the u15s as there was some great football played.I would like to thank the 3 u 14s who stepped up Josh ,Owen and Jake who at no time looked out of place. Jake was just pipped to TOW by Adam.(Mick Nickson U15 Coach)

Under 16 – Lewis Hopwood

Lewis looked a constant threat trying to run in behind. He was willing to press defenders and tried to make things happen when on the ball.. (Iain Bennett U16 Coach)

Academy Scholars B – Ryan Sharp

Seen a massive improvement in Ryan who showed great desire to perform all his defensive duties. Was dominant in the air and won all his 50/50s. Well done Ryan (Iain Bennett Scholars Coach)

Academy Scholars A– No Game

Under 18 –Jay Loyden

Quality performance from Jay all round. Performed his sweeper keeper duties and his distribution throughout the game gave us a solid platform to build off and subsequently score from. Performed numerous saves and handled crosses superbly even when under pressure. Well deserved Jay (Matt Sampson U18 Coach)

Under 19 –Joe Sullivan

Excellent performance from Joe, capping it off with a 20 yarder to give us a lead against local rivals Flint. Was comfortable in possession, looked to play forward and was a constant threat. Out of possession won a lot of 2nd balls. Very pleased with Joe’s performance, well done Joe. (Daniel Reece U19 Coach)
