Nomads comfortably beat Flint.

Nomads impress in first taste of 9v9.

Nomads hosted Flint for their first ever 9v9 game, the pitch was 18 yard to 18 yard of the full 3G, with a ref for the first time aswell.

This was a one off but was a good eye opener for next season when the boys will move up to 9v9.
The game started evenly, it took both teams 10 or so minutes to get to grips with the extra player and the bigger pitch.
On 15 minutes the deadlock was broken, the ball into Cronshaw who was tightly marked, without having to look the ball was flicked around the corner on 1 touch to the advancing Cook, who went on to beat 2/3 players, using a maradona in the process then smashing home.
1 minute into the second third Nomads doubled their lead, McQue had the ball on the right hand side, cutting in and firing a shot towards the Flint goal which the keeper did well to keep out, only for the ball to fall to Evans to tuck home into an empty net.
Nomads were now comfortable, passing the ball around well. Liam Ellis and Leo Heath controlled the game from central midfield, both players adapted well to having an extra man in midfield and both players complimented each other's game well.
2 minutes into the last third Nomads scored a 3rd, Charlie Jones shooting from distance only for the keeper to save and the influential Whittingham to follow up and poke home with his left foot.
In a game of few chances Nomads were dominate, without creating a great deal they looked confident in moving the ball and making Flint work.
The last 10 minutes the game opened up slightly, Cook, Whittingham and Hughes all having really good chances but seeing their shots saved.
Flint had their best spell of the game in the last 10 minutes, and in the last 5 minutes from a long range shot they made it 3-1.
The scoring wasn't finished, with 2 minutes to go the Flint no.4 was breaking over the half way line and into the nomads final third, he was tracked all the way by Jones, Jones made a fantastic sliding challenge to prevent a Flint counter attack, Jones bounced up and carried the ball until he was about 20 yards from goal and fired a great strike passed the Flint keeper and into the net. The score finished 4-1 and a comfortable win for The Nomads who impressed in their first game at 9v9.

Man of the match was very difficult to chose from, Whittingham, Heath Jones and McQue were all brilliant, however man of the match went to Liam Ellis. An assured performance from a player who's full of confidence at the minute. Always making himself available to receive a pass, and 9 out of 10 times keeping the ball. Liam's defensive side of the game was also very good, filling in for players joining in the attack and putting in several brilliant challenges.
