Darts U15 girls win against a clustered Medway/Aylesford team 7-36

By

Darts U15 girls traveled to Medway a ground where they fought so hard last season

It was a beautiful afternoon for rugby, the sun shining and the temperature just right, a slight wind but nothing of note. The trusty A,B,C club in the front row of Emily, Tierney and Phoebe, bolstered in the second row by Jamima and Amy. Back row was Maddy, Shauna and Jannah.

The half backs of Fay and Ewa had Brooke and Blessing outside them with a blistering back three, Adele, Kiera and Holly.
The game started a little scrappy, with the girls giving their all. Our girls took control of possession and Shauna made a break through, the ball shipped out to Blessing, then an offload to Fay who went over for the first of her brace. Following the kick off, the ball was caught and although the game had a number of mistakes, Darts kept their foot on the gas. Medway/Aylesford got possession and their winger was charging up the right wing when Holly introduced herself and performed a perfect tackle, without which the game could have changed. Darts recovered possession and composure, the scrum was dominated by Darts and Fay came away with the ball, she accelerated through her gears and passed the ball to Blessing who dotted it down over the try line. Shortly after Phoebe our explosive tight head picked up an injury to her ankle. Jannah took over and from a scrum 10 metres from the Medway line, Fay picked up and darted almost to the line, Lizzy who had come on supported and took possession, she wasn't going to be stopped and placed the ball down under the posts so that Ewa could slot over the conversion. 17-0 to Darts at half time. In the second half the girls pressed on and managed to take possession up to the Medway 5 metre line. The lack of a TMO meant that the referee could not see the grounding and Darts had another 5 metre scrum. Fay took control and went over for another by the left wing. At the kick off Ewa caught the ball and steamed through the first line of defence, the ball went out to Fay and then to Adele who needed to believe in herself, I am waiting for that to happen and can't wait to see here tearing up defences. Darts had one slip up and let Medway's winger through to score under the posts. That would be the last of their points. Bullocking runs from Jannah were a joy to see, similarly the way in which Jamima took her try to score under the posts in only her second game of rugby was exceptional. At the kick off, Jannah caught the ball and sat down one of the Medway players, as an ex forward it is that type of play that brings out a smile, no one hurt but great strength from Jannah. I know that I have missed a try and conversion but the afternoon was just what the girls needed, Demi had come on earlier and had some positive runs, as had Millie. I cannot express how proud I am off this group of youngsters who have battled for each other to come away with a great win.
