2016/17 has been a very successful season for the club. The players have benefitted hugely from investments made by the club in coaching, kit and facilities (including use of a 4G pitch for training), all of which have had a big impact on results on the field. Both the third XV and Ladies’ teams have been promoted from their respective leagues (the former for the second season in a row, the latter at their first attempt), while the first XV have had a fine season, winning the Lancashire Bowl and narrowly missing out on their own promotion. The 2s have had their highest league finish for several seasons, while the 4s finished 5th in their own league, after looking like they would have to drop out at Christmas, due to being unable to field a side.

Through their hard work and dedication on the training pitch, Director of Rugby James Peacock and Coach Jon Beardmore have added real structure and rigour to the way we play and have developed a style of rugby that is both attractive and successful. The support for, and investment in, the on-field activities of the club, from outgoing President Ian Bailey, Treasurer Chris Smail, and the rest of the Toc H executive team, have also been critical, and without which we would not have been able to realise this season’s successes. With a stronger base of players now in place than has been seen for some seasons, and thriving Ladies and Junior sections, the playing side of the club is in fine health and there is now an excellent platform to build upon for next season and beyond.

Great work this Season Toc H
