Northerners,
An unlucky result on Saturday against Trinity. It wasn’t going to be an easy task with a massive injury list and other unavailabilities plus 4 withdrawals from the original starting team but to have put ourselves over the try line with a chance to kick for a win we could feel very hard done by to have not shown the ball grounded. Thanks to everyone who pitched up and played as well as the supporters. What this highlights for me is the potential performances we have in us with a full contingent on a more regular basis, no doubt able to challenge East 2 more consistently.
We’ve organised a friendly at home to RHC this week, kicking off at 11.30am. This won’t be an easy task given the quality of opposition but we won’t be able to challenge ourselves if we don’t face bigger challenges more often. It’s not been the best couple of weeks for training and with only 2 sessions left before our competitive season finishes we shall look ahead and come up with an off-season training schedule. Ideally we’ll have 2 sessions continue each week with a good mixture of fun and introductions to new plays which we shall use next season. Never too early to start and certainly a good idea to put in some intricate work before the tough fitness sessions start.
Six Nations round 3 will be staged at the Bunker with Italy v Scotland at 1.30pm and England v Ireland at 3pm. The bar will have £2.50 bottles of lager and all taps available for pints.
Tourists should have paid a sum total of £250 by the end of February. Plans are coming together well as we pick up the odd straggler taking us to more than a team worth of lads. Please let me know when and what you’ve paid into the account.
