IGNATIANS CLEAN UP AT PINNER

The flourishing Enfield Ignatians' minis section had a field day at Pinner where each age group won against the Middlesex side on October 16. After the success of the recruitment drive a week earlier, Ignatians the minis have much to look forward to and not least a forthcoming tournament at Chess Valley where, in addition to the hosts, the club will also take on Harrow.

The U11s set the tone by storming to 3-0, 4-0 and 2-0 wins as the visitors' much improved backplay paid off in spades. Cian Linnane was his side's top try scorer with five tries. Elliott McPhun and Calum Wick claimed a brace each in what proved a very productive morning's work.

Akin James and Ryan Loo were among scorers as the U10s resounded to the beat of a decisive 3-1 win.

However, the U9s had to dig deep to win 5-4 against doughty opponents.

Owen Loveday's winning try secured a nail-biting 11-10 win for the U8s age group. Captained by Calvin Dell, Ignatians were also helped by some good performances from Johnny Baldwin and two-try scorer Harry King in a game played over four quarters.

Last, but not least, the U7s secured a decisive 15-9 win. Caleb Edwards and Max Melandri both scored hat-tricks in an entertaining win.

Minis spokesman Steve Baldwin summed up: "The games were played in the usual good spirit with a heavy emphasis placed on skills development."
