Weekend Rugby at Cala Park

By Kevin Byrne

This Saturday's top of the table clash will be the fourth ever competitive meeting between GHA and Falkirk, with Falkirk currently leading the series 2:1.

In the previous encounter this season, GHA outscored Falkirk by 5 tries to 3 but were narrowly defeated thanks to Falkirk's superior form in front of goal.

GHA go into the game 10 points clear of Falkirk and will be hoping to gain revenge after losing 31-27 the last time the two teams met at Braidholm in October.

GHA Head Coach Gordon MacPherson knows how big a test it will be.

“They have a fairly experienced team and it is away at their ground. It will probably be one of the toughest games we will have played in a while."

Can our lads stand up to the test. Falkirk Head Coach certainly thinks so.

"We are well rested due to the postponement of the Whitecraigs game and have been working very hard in training. The lads know how important this game is to our season. They know what they have to do to compete and more importantly, to win!"

So, there it is. This game is going to be our very own 'El Classico'. Two determaned teams who desperately want to win.

Kick off is at 3pm Bring a friend, a cousin, a random stranger and cheer on Falkirk in what is sure to be the most important game of the season,

Lunches are also available to supporters:
£20 for adults, £10 for the kids.

Falkirk Sunnyside v’s Arbroath 2nds
The author of this wonderful piece of journalism has in the last 24hrs taken a bit of stick from an unhappy Falkirk Sunnyside squad for failing to bring it to the membership’s attention of their home fixture against Arbroath 2xv this Saturday.
It was completely unintentional. To be honest, I just forgot!!
So, here it is.
Sunnyside will host a determined Arbroath 2xv this weekend as they continue to battle it out for top place in the CALEDONIA REGIONAL LEAGUE MIDLAND DIVISION 3B. (bit of a mouthful that!).
We are currently sitting 3 points behind the league leaders Crieff, who take on a tough Stobswell side at home.
Due to another fixture hold up against Perthshire last weekend, Sunnyside’s last game was an away win to Arbroath a fortnight ago.
An excellent and focussed performance saw the lads come out 29-20 winners on the day and despite a strong Arbroath fight back in the 2nd half, Sunnyside worked hard in closing the opposition down and making the hits when they mattered with three of the Arbroath players retiring from the match sporting injuries. Arbroath will definitely be up for the rematch!
So, there you have it. Two fantastic games to look forward to this weekend at Cala Park. And two games that will have a bearing on how each of our senior teams finish their leagues this season.
As mentioned already, grab a granny, bring your family, take your work mates or hide from the wife (or husband) and come down to watch Falkirk Rugby Club this Saturday 16th February!

As long as this bloody snow stays away!!!!

COME ON FALKIRK!!
