Greens press Corby & trouser 3 points.....

The Super Eagles made it 8 wins on the bounce, with a late masterclass by The Daddy who scored his 106th & 107th goals for Frickley, making him 5th highest scorer for the club.

Frosty served his suspension & Darkenbauer was unavailable as he was delivering a workshop on yoga & inner enlightenment, but apart from that it was business as usual on the personnel front.

The first half was a dogged midfield battle - Frickley struggled to get out of the low gears & a niggly home team & a fussy (other descriptions are available, ask anyone who was there) ref didn't help proceedings. Goalscoring opportunities were at a premium but Frickley had 2 great chances in as many minutes - Gav rolled the defence & broke down the left & pulled it back to Haze & he smashed it towards the top corner but a late block put it over the bar. Then Duggie put a cross in for Gav to get a looping header goalwards but their keeper saved well at the far stick. Then Haze broke & fed the marauding Dugdale but Duggie got under his shot a bit & it went over.

Down at the other end, Hugo pulled off a superb save right on the stroke of half time. The Corby forward was clean through but Huuuuuggggoooo was Malkowski-esque in standing tall & deflecting it over for a corner - his version of events "I just stuck my knee out, I thought it had gone in" - keepers eh!!

HALF TIME - NIL NIL

Spen switched it around early in the 2nd half, Jack Burton replaced Tyler & JB dug in for a right shift doing all the unglamourous stuff that isn't fully appreciated.

With an hour gone, a Corby player ran into Jammer (I think), fell over & the ref gave a penner & Corby go 1 up. This seemed to be the spark that ignited Frickleys fire. Ishy Dawson came on for Teddy Bloor & was very lively down the right hand side.

Shortly after, a home player went straight through Ben Algar & a bit of handbags kicked off. However, Frickley didn't get mad, they got even!! Ishy D broke down the right, fed it inside to Haze who set up Gav from 10 yards out & he doesn't miss them. 1 apiece, 80 gone. Now it was all Frickley & on 87 minutes a long ball forward & the home defenders look at it like they've never seen a ball before. Gav says thank you very much, controls it, rounds the keeper & sticks it in the onion bag on 87 minutes.

Haze was replaced by Sam Race & Frickley neutralised the game to take the 3 points, which was the right result.

Gav had a very poor Friday night sleep as Allott Junior was poorly (get well soon George if you're reading this) - I bet Corby wish he had got a good solid 8 hours kip as he was like a man possessed 2nd half & this was the 6th game in the last 7 where we've won it in the last 10 minutes. Some team!

Corby have got a very tidy ground - slightly spoiled by the floodlights which make the ground darker when they are turned on. Similar illumination to those torches that you get free at the garage when you fill up. 346 through the gate with a good number travelling from South Elmsall & a few from other parts of the country including 2 who went to the Peterborough FA Cup tie before the Frickley game.

So not vintage Frickley but yet again they refuse to give in - terrific team spirit.

WEBMASTER MOTM - I'm like a stuck record but Hugo was huge again, commanded his box & made a superb save but the defence marshalled themselves very well & gave him a fairly quiet afternoon. Patts & (latterly) JB dug in & were the engine room. But the Big Angry Bear who got zero hours sleep wins the Glitterball - a proper captains knock & scored the goals that brought home the vegan bacon.

Next up, we're at home to Market Drayton next Saturday - see you there
