ROVERS 1 - 2 TILBURY

Refereeing howler gives Tilbury last gasp winner

Rovers were once again the better team on the day but failed to make their performance pay dividends as they succumbed to a last minute sucker punch.

Rovers fell behind when Louis Godwin-Green brought down an attacker in the box, for Read to fire home the resulting penalty. Tilbury then sat back and Nash found himself in the box to pounce on a save by James Marrable from Ashley Hawkins, to side foot home. Rovers continued to apply pressure but found the Tilbury backline a stubborn force.

In the second half, both teams found themselves stretched yet Rovers were grinding out the better opportunities. Nash went close again, getting his head to the ball from a cross which found the crossbar. Had this gone in, who know's what would have happened!!

But it would be Tilbury who would leave Burroughs Park smiling as a quick break found the ball being crossed from the left, with the ball cannoning into the net off Tom Wraight's hand, referee Neil West awarding the goal with no doubt in his mind.
