FRAMLINGHAM TOWN 0 HAVERHILL ROVERS 2
Framlingham were left still looking for a league point after their third attempt as Haverhill netted the first league goals, and points, of their campaign
THURLOW NUNN LEAGUE PREMIER DIVISION
After dominating possession, but chances not coming for either side, the first chance of the game brought dividends for the away side after 29 minutes, Marc Abbott releasing a diagonal ball to find Ben Bradley in space, the home defence asking for an offside flag that wouldn't come, Bradley keeping his cool and slotting the ball between goalkeeper Sam Chilvers and the near right post.
The hosts had a solid chance for an equaliser from the penalty spot in the 37th minute, Alfie Carroll bringing down Cyrus Thorpe to the left of the penalty spot, Danny Smith taking the kick but 'keeper James Philp met his effort with a strong wristed save to put the ball behind for a corner.
Framlingham came out strongly in the second half, Smith putting a full stretch volley over the bar just 17 seconds after the restart, and the hosts were knocking on the door for a levelling goal for much of the opening quarter of an hour, a dubious corner after 58 minutes being headed back across goal, and although Philp was beaten by a second header, Mickey Davis headed the ball away from danger.
With 69 minutes gone the points were sealed, Prince Mutswunguma's cross from the right making it past the back post but Luke Haines was there to mop up; he found Davis, who took his time and four touches to his left searching for space until he found just enough to roll it through the defender's legs and into the bottom right corner.
ROVERS : Philp, Carroll, Fox, Noble, Farrant, Geoghegan (Holmes, 79), Abbott, Bradley, Haines, Mutswunguma (Halls, 80), Davis. Sub not used – Miles.
