Tue 21 Aug 19:45 - Thurlow Nunn Eastern Counties League - Premier Division Full time

Haverhill will consider themselves unlucky not to have come away from Newmarket with all three points when, although they didn't create much in front of goal, their opponents were reduced to ten men for most of the second half and to eight deep into added

An excellent save from home goalkeeper Alex Archer after 12 minutes denied Mickey Davis from scoring from eight yards out after some wonderful one/two touch passing, Haverhill's goal coming on the half hour mark after Jake Noble squared the ball to Prince Mutswunguma, who found space around three defenders before putting a left foot shot the other way into the bottom right corner past a rooted Archer.

Fortune shone for the hosts as, with their first real attempt on goal, player/manager Michael Shinn spotted away 'keeper James Philp setting up the defence for his 35 yard free kick and, spotting an opportunity, curled a shot high and into the left side of the net.

Blake Kicks was the first of the hosts to see red as he was sent from the field seven minutes after the break for serious foul play after a high, reckless challenge on Noble, although the crowd would have felt that Newmarket may have been the more likely to score for a period afterwards.

Archer palmed away a shot from the right corner of the area from Davis in the 83rd minute, substitute Mark Lovell heading Jemel Fox's chipped cross from the left side of the bye line over the Newmarket bar from close range as the 90th minute turned over.

Five minutes into injury time Joe Bennett was shown his second caution, and a red card, for dissent, Tyrone Alleyne following less than a minute later after he was booked for disputing Bennett's second caution and, less than 10 seconds later, saw a straight red card for a rash challenge.

ROVERS : Philp, Carroll, Fox, Noble, Farrant, Geoghegan, Abbott, Haines (Lovell, 66), Bradley (Burr, 76), Mutswunguma (Wozniak, 84), Davis. Subs not used – Miles, Sartini.
