Undeterred by this disappointment Rovers continued to attack with Sam Bennett and wing back Henry Hall using their pace to unsettle the Thetford defences and it was the latter who sent an inch perfect cross to the far side of the goal area and found the head of Graeme Turner whose looping header evaded the flailing arms of the keeper and went in just under the bar to give him his second of the night on 44 minutes and give Rovers the interval lead.
The second half was all about the visitors who dominated most of the half as they looked to try and even things up but the Rovers defence stood strong and despite a couple of amazing goal mouth scrambles managed to hold out and claim the much needed three points with only their second league win since February.
Rovers have now secured enough points to avoid any doubts of relegation which was looming, and it should be noted that this battle, although very competitive, did not attract a single yellow card for either side and was credit to sensible and professional refereeing throughout.
