A strong start for our A team saw three early tries by Shakir Millais, George Giblett and William Howell and a conversion by Shakir launch us to a 17-0 lead. Then we seemed to sit back and after several missed tackles Letchworth broke through to score two tries under the posts easily converted to make it 17-14. Persistent forward play was rewarded when Ollie Wade went over the line to make it 22-14 as we went into half time.
The pattern seemed to be set at the start of the second half as another breakaway try by the visitors was converted to narrow the gap to 22-21. Five minutes later Letchworth broke through again for a try in the corner and it was 22-26.
There was then a long period of play with neither side able to prevail until more dogged work by the forwards allowed Adam Drew to get over the line and with a conversion by Shakir it was 29-26. All we had to do was close down Letchworth for the last couple of minutes but unfortunately this was not to be and a late try gave them the win at 29-31.
