Ingleton pick up Maximum Points

By

Matthew France hit an unbeaten 83 and Chris Fleming an unbeaten 64 as Ingleton picked up their first league win of the season

As the sun shone at Forton on Saturday, Shireshead 2nd XI hosted Ingleton, winning the toss the home side opted to bat and made a slow start to proceedings as Preston and France attacked the stumps.
Matthew France made the break through in the 4th over as Huw Sharpe behind the stumps held tight to the nick off Bleasdales outside edge with the score on 5.
The pair then teamed up again to remove fellow opener Colin Twiname for 12 in the 10 over.

Tight bowling was backed up by good fielding to restrict the home side to 28 runs for 3 wickets after 14 overs.

Joel Oliver and Jake Gould joined forces in the middle and slowly got Shireshead in the driving seat putting on 83 for the 3rd wicket in the next 14 overs, the partnership was broken as France followed up his 3 wicket spell with a run out, returning the ball from mid on to the bowlers end removing Oliver for 38.

2 more quick wickets from Matthew Dawson brought the visitors back into the game as he bowled skipper Yates 2nd ball and McGonnigal held on to remove keeper Dugdale.

Shireshead added a further 59 runs for the 9th wicket as they took the score over 200, Foy reached his debut 50.

The hosts innings closed on 209-9.

With Graham Kellett needing to head back to work, Ingleton made a positive start to the run chase scoring at nearly 7 runs an over for the first 10 overs
Kellett and Chris Fleming put on 51 for the first wicket, as the captain was caught behind by Dugdale off the bowling of Hemmings.

Hughes came to the wicket and scored easily before edging to Twiname in the slip for 17.

Will Scott on debut for the 1st XI followed shortly, allowing France to join Fleming in the middle. The pair remained patient and put away the bad ball when required to keep the scoring rate at about 4 runs an over.

Shireshead continued to rotate the bowling attack to try and find away to break through the visitors batting line up, but to no avail as France and then Fleming reached their 50s.

Having got his eye in Matthew France continued his fine form at this ground striking 4 large 6s in his innings before seeing the visitors over the line with a clip off his legs for 4 in the 35th over.

Next up for Ingleton in the League are Bare, a side who are looking at bouncing straight back into the 1st division.
