A fantastic all round display by Kilmarnock has really put a marker down to all the other teams in league..

Kilmarnock hosted title rivals Victoria on Saturday hoping the forecasted poor weather would not prevent them getting the game played. On winning the toss stand in captain Paul Flanagan quite rightly decided to field on a green seaming wicket.

With captain and opening bowler Naimat Ali unavailable through injury it was left to the young pace attack of Waleed Iqbal and Alex Gibson to lead the way. And lead the way they did, with Waleed picking up a wicket in the first over of the day thanks to a good catch by Jasdeep Sarabha. Waleed was bowling a great line and length and he picked up the other opener caught behind in the third over of the day.

Gibson was not to be outdone by his partner and, once he got into his rhythm, bowled so unplayable balls. He quickly dismissed the rest of the top order to put the hosts very much on top.

Captain Flanagan changed it up when Victoria threatened to recover and brought on Javed Iqbal and Chris Marshman. Jam Iqbal looking particularly threatening for the visitors and had launched Gibson out of the ground.

The recovery was quickly halted by Marshman in emphatic style when he sent Ghaffors middle stump cartwheeling towards the boundary!! When Gibson got revenge on the dangerous Iqbal by taking a superb catch at long off the innings was crumbling.

Marshman returned in the next over and threatened to chip his own fine varnish job on the stumps, to leave himself on a hat-trick. Although the hat-trick ball was only just kept out his third wicket was only a couple of balls away thanks to a good low catch by Azhar Abdullah. Iqbal took the final wicket to dismiss Victoria for 76.

Kilmarnock set about their run chase with intent knowing that bad weather may scupper their chances at any moment. Sandeep Dhalwal holed out to long on for an entertaining 17 whilst Munir Ahmed added an exciting 16 not out. But it was Flanagan who played a captains knock full of classy strokes to see the team home by 9 wickets in only 15.4 overs.
