Neil Baker was forced into two changes with Niall Maguire and James Curley replacing the unavailable Kyle Blake and Niall Green.
The visitors had the better of the opening period with Blues pushed back on their heels. Jon Oglesby curled an early shot early and Andrew Taylor could have done better when he pounced on a weak header but shot past the post.
Cleethorpes had a couple of more openings early in the second half as chance was poked just wide of goal in the 46th minute and six minutes later a shot was flashed across the goal.
Leek were starting to get their attacking game going and Dan Trickett-Smith played a great ball in to Tim Grice who was denied a sight of goal by a great last-ditch tackle.
Soon afterwards Jordan Johnson saw his low shot rather unconvincingly saved by Liam Higton in the visitors goal.
Grice was played in again on the 69th minute but could only hit his shot over from a difficult angle. He had another curling effort in the 86th minute, but that just cleared the bar.
Blues were finishing strongly and a good run and cross from Rob Stevenson two minutes from time was met by Grice but he couldn't get enough on it to turn it home.
Overall a draw was probably a fair result and a satisfactory week for Baker who saw his side take seven points from a possible nine and keep three clean sheets.
