Leighton Town Dev Team arrived at their second away game of the season with a squad reduced in personnel but improved with regards having a balanced team on the pitch.

Carl Harrison had only just flown back from Vegas but was willing to roll the dice one more time to assist the team, he immediately formed an assured partnership with Captain Josh Peacock and the change to a back four brought defensive stability to the team.

Ampthill started the game brightly but were unable to exert territorial pressure or create too much in the way of clear cut chances.

Leighton were proving to be very solid and difficult to break down and the two Charlie's in midfield protected the back four extremely well.

Up front Leighton were starting to look lively and space was being exploited on both flanks. A surging run through the centre by Zack Crossingham was desperately halted and Leighton took the lead from the resultant free kick.

A floated ball was seized on by Charlie Davis and he pounced to score, a lead that was held till half time.

The second half was similar to the first but Leighton were still secure at the back and looked even more dangerous than before as Ampthill pushed hard for an equaliser leaving space to be exploited at the back.

A free kick smashed against the Ampthill cross bar but it was looking to be a temporary set back as frequent Leighton attacks were inches away from being converted.

A slick moving counter attack eventually sealed the game as an excellent break away from Stuart Till was clinically despatched into the Ampthill net by George Armstrong.

Despite further pressure from the home team the Leighton defenders were now determined to take home the prize of a clean sheet and this target was achieved once the final whistle was blown.
