After two consecutive seasons of promotion from the 5th to the 3rd division, playing for the first time at the higher 3rd division level was always going to be tough challenge this season, and so it proved.
From a precarious certain relegation position at the Christmas break of only 3 wins and 11 losses. The Spartans recovered in the second half of the season to win 5 of their last 9 games and retain their status in the 3rd division.
With two significant away wins in last month of the season at Wirral 3's and New Brighton 2's being the key factors in avoiding the drop back to the lower division. There have been lots of learning lessons this season for the first team. That hopefully will help them next season.
The 1st team squad now start their preparations for the Union Cup in Madrid, on the 28-30 April. The bi-annual European Inclusive rugby tournament.
