NEWBURY STAGS 15 v 19 CHINNOR III
Stags pipped by Chinnor III in final minutes
Sat 9th Sept 3 pm KO - Wadworth 6x BBO Div 1
Newbury Stags go down fighting to a strong Chinnor III
Newbury Stags put up a great fight against a strong Chinnor III side who won this league by 13 points last season
Stags have a couple of new boys in the side and several on their way back from injury or breaks from rugby also a well-known ex 1st teamer who is back for a break from America
Stags go 7-0 down in the first few minutes but regroup and manage to hold out a strong Chinnor side and should have scored on a couple of occasions themselves but mistakes and wrong decisions cost them dearly
Stags have the better of the remainder of the first half and score two try’s the first by Grant Broom-Edwards converted by James Lewis the second by James Baker
Blues are restricted to a James Lewis penalty in the second half but are still leading with just a few minutes to go but Chinnor’s pressure tells and they score with only minutes left to pinch the win and take the 4 points Blues are left with just a losing bonus point
A good performance by the Stags
