Points Fest at the Old Eds

A glorious spring day greeted bottom-of-the-table Dunlop at Weddington. Both sides decided that attack was order of the day as a massive total of 112 points were notched up. Dunlop started well and took an early lead with a fine forward’s try to which the Eds with a similar drive from the pack rounded off by Singh.
What followed was wonderful from an attacking point of view, less so for defence fans, as the Eds ran in a total of 13 tries with 9 conversions. Dunlop scored a respectable 4 tries to earn a bonus point, which they were rightly delighted with.
Eds’ try scorers were Ryan Singh, Gareth Cartwright, Luke Roberts (2), Dave Wilkins, Ashley Kalnins (2), Alex Cape (2), Alton McVey (3), and Ryan Hatch.
Many of the scores were from long range and Ryan Hatch scored from an athletic catch and run from a 22m drop-out.
Final score: Old Eds 83 Dunlop 29
With Barker Butts’ defeat of table-leaders Rugby Lions, the Eds still need results in the remaining three matches to avoid relegation.
