Name
Greg Whelan

Which position(s) do you play?
Started at 10 and got moved further & further away!

Which team do you play for?
All of 'em!! U7s to Vets!!!!!

How old were you when you started playing?
6, coached by my Dad, Len Whelan

What do you like to do outside of rugby?
Pick up heavy things and put them down again!

What's your favourite drink?
Guinness

What's your favourite food?
Home cooked!

Favourite moment in your rugby career to date?
Carrying several Broughton players across the line with them busy trying to punch me whilst I scored the try to defeat them when we won the league in '96. They weren't happy!

Who is the longest in the shower?
These days, all of us cos we move so slowly!

Who is the most skilful?
There's now at least a player per age group who has got something in their game that you'd pay to watch! Some amazing side steps, passing, great defence and attitude, they all love being a Bedians! Outer U11s this year will be special they've already won a couple of tournaments

Who is the hardest trainer?
In my career, had to be Danny Griffin! Got some great training stories

Who is the worst dressed?
The shirt and club tie saves us all from rugby players expressing themselves in the fashion stakes! Back in the Miami Vice era, it was probability me! It was the eighties though so nobody noticed!!!!

Who is the best boozer?
Whelan's don't fall over!!!!! ( just drift away when nobody's looking)

Who is the biggest moaner?
Me

Who is the hardest person?
Long list over the years, we had one lad who was rattled head to toe before the trend landed, he worked back street doors in Manc, had tears tattooed on his face and stitch marks around his throat, forgotten his name right now. But let's just call him 'Sir'!

Who is the biggest joker?
Sean Lynch always has A tale to tell! Back in the day Joe Ward or Pete Vosveniek were bloody good craic!

Who is the most brainy?
Our DYB treasurer Andrew, no doubt! Along with Gary French, both accounts boys, they can add up, take away and do long divisions too! Marvellous

Who is the best tackler?
Dave Evans or Sean Knight from the 80s/90s1st XV. Health warnings required- should have only been allowed to tackle after the watershed!

Who is the best tourist?
Eamon O'Loughlin, been everywhere! Here in Manchester in missionary work!

Who is the best player you have ever played with?
Sorry 3 names Dai Lewis/Nigel Davies or Kenny Cotter, all would have graced several levels higher but they were Bedians!!!!

Who is the hardest to tackle?
From the teams I coach, either Aiden Lynch, pure pace, or Ben Whelan when he's stepping!

Who is the most committed to the club?
Our DYB Chairman followed closely by coaches who do just about everything to keep DYB going!!!! Great folk, backed up by the Mums who run the kitchen! Come and see us all for a sausage sarnie on a Sunday and throw a ball around with DYB!
