The Reds go marching on towards play offs !

By

Farsley Celtic 0 Ossett Town 2

Ossett Town made the short journey to West Yorkshire neighbours Farsley Celtic hoping to end a 15 year run of failing to win at Throstle Nest.

Grant Blacks men have hit a winning streak just at the right time go into this game sitting third in the league and will be hoping to replicate the 3-2 win in the reverse fixture at Ingfield earlier in the season.

Farsley will be going all out for the 3 points which could confirm them as league champions so this was never going to be an easy game.

Everyone concerned with both clubs will be feeling both nervous and excited with so much riding on the result.

The Reds start with the same team that beat Prescott Cables 3-1 on Saturday with Jake Ellam & Sam Wright starting on the bench.

The game kicks off and within 2 minutes Leigh Overton is caught out of position but Lamin Colley fails to take advantage for the home side.

Danny Frost breaks away but fires over the bar in the 9th minute.

Lewis Nightingale breaks down the left who plays in Jordan Deacey but his shot is deflected behind.

A strong 15 minutes for the Reds with chances for Yates & Peterson.

Jason Yates is shown a yellow card in the 40th minute for an off the ball incident.

Aiden Savory Heads for goal but Town keeper pulls off a great save to deny the home side a goal.

Martin Pembleton is booked in the 45th minute for a strong challenge on Paul Walker.

An even game in the first 45 minutes.

Half Time: 0-0

The first chance of the second half falls to Deacey & Colley but neither can turn the ball in during a goalmouth scramble.

Steve Ridley is replaced by Daz Lucas for Ossett.

Ossett take the lead as a free kick is headed out and as the ball drops outside the box it is volleyed by Martin Pembleton, a superb strike to give the Reds a 1-0 lead.

Frost latches onto a through ball with only the keeper to beat, McKibbin closes the angle well and sees the shot go wide.

Farsley start to put pressure on the Reds defence but some resolute defending and bodies thrown into tackles and blocks maintain the 1-0 score line.

In the 75th minute McKibbin makes a great save to deny Daz Lucas.

Savory squares the ball into the box but good awareness from Andy Hawksworth as he slides in to block the cross out for a corner.

Tyrone Gay is booked in the 84th minute for kicking the ball away.

Marshall Puts the ball across to Chris Atkinson who has most of the goal to shoot at but he wastes the chance and fires wide.

Free Kick to Farsley in the 91st minute and they leave one player back and even the keeper comes up for the kick. The ball is headed clear of the area and Jason Yates is first to respond and finds Anthony Mackie on the left 10 yards inside his own half, he runs the ball towards an empty goal and sees Pembleton racing through the middle and unselfishly slots the ball through. Pembo runs the ball into the area and passes the ball into the net to increase the lead to 2-0 creating real scenes of celebration amongst the Ossett faithful and different emotions from the crowd of 365.
