The odds were stacked against the lads when the league rejected a request from Town to delay the cup semi final due to a large contingent of the Under 19s squad being involved in the British (4th May) and Welsh Colleges Cup Final (7th May / This Day). This was unfair to the coaches, the players and the club but welcome to the Welsh League everyone !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Nevertheless it was a very good performance by visiting Caerau (Ely) on the day who went on to win and now face Tredegar Town in the Final who beat Ton Pentre (winners of the east division). They hit 5 and Town's only reply was a goal from Josh Hier.
The match was also spoilt by the referee who booked almost half of the Pontardawe Town team and sent Jordan Hughes off for a second yellow. Yet only one Caerau (Ely) player was booked !!! .... The match referee even sent one of the parents off for showing frustration by accusing him of swearing directly at him when witnesses suggest that was not the case !!!
It has been a great season for the lads and who knows what the result would have been if we had been able to field the full squad.
Once again though our complaint is not against Caerau (Ely) who were excellent on the day and deserved the win. We wish them all the best for the final on Sunday 14th May at Aberdare Town
