Preston Lodge returned to action against Lismore at The Inch on Saturday and they finished off their season in fine style by running in a total of 19 tries to comprehensively defeat the bottom club by a massive 6 – 111.
The win was important because it ensured that PL have gone through the entire league season unbeaten and they have taken 17 bonus points out of a possible 18. Paul Voy also had cause to celebrate because he notched up 5 tries in the game to make him the Club’s top try scorer with 21. The big No.8 was even allowed to add a conversion to take his tally to 107 points for the season. Youngster Darren Eales can count himself unlucky because he was the leading try scorer prior to Saturday’s game but injury prevented him from playing and Voy seized the chance to take top spot.
If proof were needed to show just how dominant PL have been this season, their final points total of 975 has come from 155 tries in only 18 games.
Preparations at The Pennypit are already underway for next season when competition is sure to be tougher as the second phase of league reconstruction comes into force.
