Glimpses of the future
Rainworth MWFC are moving in the right direction.
Rainworth MWFC ended their friendly fixtures away at Awsworth Villa and after two games without a goal when they returned to their scoring ways, winning 4 v 2. With players unavailable it gave the management team a chance to access the depth of the squad, which included a number of the U17’s on the bench.
The score line didn’t do them justice with their lively opponents’ goals coming from a soft penalty and an absolute gift, whilst Rainworth hit the woodwork twice with the keeper well beaten and they also missed a penalty.
Rainworth MWFC’s record is won three, lost three and apart from the first half against Harrowby United when they ‘never turned up’, they have always been competitive. The season starts next Saturday at home to Heanor Town and the management will be hoping they have a full squad to pick from, something they haven’t had during the opening weeks.
The newly formed team is a mixture of youth and experience and hopefully once they have gelled together, they will go from strength to strength. There have been glimpses of what they are capable of and also a naivety that has gifted goals to their opponents, hopefully they will learn quickly and reap the rewards their ability deserves, we will know better at 4:45pm next Saturday.
