Our 1st XI signed off with a good victory at home to Slaithwaite but fell agonisingly short in their bid for successive promotions.
Slaithwaite were restricted to 145 all out after 37.2 overs, with the wickets shared across 5 bowlers taking 2 wickets each. Jordan Ghani, Wasim Javed, Olly Pearson and Jack Pearson all struck twice before Jacob Waterson mopped up the tail with 2 wickets from his occasional off-spin.
In reply, Rastrick lost regular wickets but always looked in control of the run chase. Faisal Javed top scored with 38 before Bradley Birkhead (18*) and Olly Pearson (21) wrapped up the win, with over 21 overs spare.
However, the 6 points was not enough to seal promotion as Moorlands managed to easily beat Holmfirth, leaving the Round Hill men just 2 points short. There were plenty of missed opportunities along the way but the Club can look forward with confidence, having shown that we have got what it takes to compete at the highest level. One or two new faces will put us in a great position to challenge for honours in 2017.
Well done to the Team on a successful first season in the Championship. We had our chances but will go again next season!
