Ollerton had the better of the opening 10 minutes but Shirebrook soon began to grow into the game with Daniel Williams, Declan Brewin, Sam Martin, Carter Widdowson and Sam Dockwray all going close to opening the scoring but the first goal of the game did arrive in the 24th minute when Ollerton failed to deal with a Shirebrook corner and Joe Cheeseman put Shirebrook into the lead and Shirebrook were soon celebrating again when 2 minutes later Declan Brewin was played in 1 on 1 with Philip McGann in the Ollerton net and made no mistake to double the Shirebrook lead but with 10 minutes of the half remaining Ollerton began to grow into the game and in the 42nd minute Joshua Bowkett pulled a goal back for Ollerton to put the game back in the balance going into the break.

Ollerton carried the momentum into the second half that they had built up at the end of the 1st half and had Shirebrook on the back foot at the start of the second half with the closest chance being a shot from distance that hit the bar but Shirebrook managed to weather the storm and in the 66th minute extended the lead when Sam Dockwray found himself in the box and smashed a shot across the keeper and into the bottom corner with time still left on the clock Shirebrook kept pushing looking to extend the lead and they had plenty of chances to do so with Declan Brewin going close twice Daniel Williams and sub Kieran Darby both had chances but couldn’t take them but Shirebrook had done enough to claim all 3 points.

After the game Shirebrook manager Rob Camm spoke to the bootiful game to give his thoughts on the game

“I’m really happy with the result. We were very poor last week in the Vase -with very little fight -so it was the perfect reaction today. Ollerton started very brightly and we soaked it up well; we took the lead and started to take control but after going 2-0 up lost our way a little bit and they scored a very good goal. It was back and forth in the second half; they had chances -as did we- but I think the third goal killed the game off and capped an excellent performance from Sam Dockwray. We managed the game well after that –and I was very happy to take three points at a difficult place”

Shirebrook are back in action next Saturday when they visit Hallam 3pm ko
