On the 6th minute Leek took an early lead as Sam Grimshaw picked up a loose ball and fired towards goal, Sam Donkin lost his footing in the goalmouth and couldn’t get anything on the ball as it went past him.
The 15th minute almost saw Stamford bounce back as new signing Mahmoud Juma ran the ball out from the back and released the ball to Grant Ryan who played in John King but his shot was well saved. A minute later Jordan Smith struck the ball on the volley, from the edge of the area, but this effort went just wide.
Following this chance, the home side went up the other end of the pitch with Tom France on the edge of the area but he fired well over the bar. Leek had the chance from the spot to go into a two-goal lead on the 21st minute as a cross came in from the right-hand side, Liam Marshall was deemed to have handled by the linesman following the referee awarding a corner. After a moments conversation between the two of them a penalty was awarded.
Tim Grice stepped up and scored to Sam Donkin’s left. Just before the break Grant Ryan headed towards goal following a Jon Challinor throw in but it was an easy save for the Leek keeper.
Following a free kick the ball dropped to Sam Hill who put the ball back into the box, Jordan Smith’s diving header was blocked but it fell to Jon Challinor who volleyed the ball over the bar. Soon after a quick free kick came to Grant Ryan who crossed but Jon Challinor headed just wide.
Stamford had a route back into the game four minutes later as Jon Challinor played a clever ball over the top to Grant Ryan whose first-time flicked shot went into the back of net.
Ten minutes after this the route back into the game was gone as a clumsy tackle from Curtis Hartley led to the referee pointing to the spot for the second time and again Tim Grice made no mistake from the spot scoring his second of the game. A few minutes later Jack Oldham replaced John King.
Five minutes from time Delroy Gordon headed well over the bar. Following this Curtis Hartley was replaced by Chris Hollist.
In stoppage time Tim Grice, pushing for his second hat-trick of the week, had two shots from around the edge of the box well saved by Sam Donkin.
