MacLeod guns down Oman

By Paul Hoffmann

'Cloudy' picks up his 3rd man of match award in 4 games!

Uddy skipper Calum MacLeod scored his maiden international T20 century as he blitzed the Oman bowling attack at Sharjah.

MacLeod went on the attack from ball one, moosing the poor Oman attack to all parts of the stadium in front of stunned crowd. Scotland ended up with a lower than expected 158-5 off their 20 overs, with Calum smoking an unbeaten 104 that included 4 massive babooshka's over the stands.

However, Scotland's 158 was more than enough, as "Magic Man" Majid Haq bamboozled the hapless Oman batsmen who were bowled out for just 106.

The win over Oman sets up a tantalising game against Ireland on Sunday to be played at the Dubai Cricket Stadium in front of an expected crowd of 25,000. Both sides were beaten by surprise tournament front runners Namibia, so a loss on Sunday could spell the end of the tournament for either team.

Ireland have bounced back after getting beat by Namibia, with Boyd Rankin, Ed Joyce and William Porterfield starring in the Irish resurgence. Ireland will be targeting MacLeod, who has become Scotland's linchpin with the bat in T20 cricket.

Niall MacLeod, Calum's younger brother, said yesterday, "Yes, Calum is looking forward to the challenge of the Irish. He loves a good battle and just can't wait to get back out there and smash some sixes. Alan (Calum's older brother) and I understand that right now, Calum is the favourite son and rightly so. His efforts in the UAE have been incredible and long may that continue."
