Jones hails victory as "perfect response"

Manager Jason Jones was in buoyant mood after Aberaeron's victory away at Montgomery. "I asked the team to respond and put in a better performance to the last game and what they put out there today was just perfect".
Aberaeron travelled up to Montgomery with a changed lineup with Sion Clarke serving the first of a three match suspension,Rhodri Thomas, James Hemming and Gareth and David Evans all missing as well. Jack Chetwynd,Jamie Owen and Dan Bourne all came into the starting line up with Jamie Butler and Mathew Evans on the bench. With so many changes the opening exchanges saw little chances created as the new look side
tried to find their rhythm. The quality increased as the team settled and started playing good football. 20 minutes in and aeron were forced to make a change as Jack Chetwynd pulled up short feeling tightness in his hamstring. Mathew Evans came in to midfield with the impressive Ryan Jones moving out to a wider position. With the ball moving well Aeron put together a string of passes which culminated in Mike Gornal feeding Mattie Davies who finished with aplomb from a difficult angle. Monty came back at the visitors with Barry Edwards making a superb save low down to his right forcing the ball round the post. With the game opening up Aeron pushed hard and Gareth Severs harried the monty defence into a clumsy clearance and he managed to charge the ball down which broke kindly for the Aeron marksman who finished expertly. Jamie Owen had a chance to put the game to bed when combing well with his teammates only for the monty keeper to save well. Manager Jones finished the half with his team very much in control. Monty altered their formation to a 3-4-3 and started the second half at a frantic pace looking to force the visitors back and try and get a foothold in the game. Dan Bourne and his centre back partner Rhodri Edwards were
tested several times but were equal to the monty attack as they weathered the storm with goalkeeper Barry Edwards hardly a save to make. As the second half wore on Aberaeron were happy to protect their lead from deep and counter attack on the break. Mattie Davies proved to be a one man assault team on the Monty back four as he relieved the pressure on his defensive teammates time and again with his intelligent runs and ball retention. Jamie Butler came on with 15 minutes to go for man of the match Jamie Owen as the game petered out for Aberaeron to take all three points their performance deserved. Next up for Aberaeron will be local rivals Bow Street on Tuesday night.
