Match report from Danny Kuhrt:
The game against Beddington started off with half the team being locked outside the ground for half an hour, but we finally got let in and Jon won the toss, electing to bat. Jon and Hasnain looked very solid, with Hasnain blocking it like Steve Hasler. They took us to 50, before Hasnain got caught at square leg for a good 15.
Farrouq came in next, but was also caught at square leg for 4. Rikki hit a good 19 with Jon, before Jon got out for 48.
Then it was Jack and George (on his debut) in to cause some damage. Beefy hit 7 fours, and his first ever six, while George hit 6 fours. Their running between the wickets was brilliant and they put pressure on the fielders. Their partnership was nearing 100 (taking us to 199) before Beefo got bowled for a fantastic 58. George was later caught for an excellent 38. The lower order then came in with Mano, Michael, Alistair and Aryan taking us to 217, before Jon declared. Shout out to Michael, scoring his high score for Addiscombe this season with some great shots. It was a good innings for Addiscombe, getting 217 in just 41 overs.
Addiscombe then took to the field. Mano and Alistair opened the bowling fantastically, bowling tight, fast and threatening bowling. They both took 2 early wickets, and Beddington were quickly 4 down. Danny and Aaryan then came on, taking 2 and 1 wickets respectively. The tempo was up and Beddington looked worried at 50 odd for 7.
But Beddington then started a comeback, managing to get to around 130, with their number three getting 67. Rikki bowled well but couldn’t get a wicket, but then the Beefmeister was brought on. He managed to get the breakthrough wicket of their highest scoring batsman, and from then on the rest of the wickets fell quickly. Mano came back and got another wicket, before Salt Beef got the final wicket caught and bowled with a big smile and a Oxo-tastic roar.
Beddington were all out for 150, and Addiscombe won by a comfortable 70 runs. Great performances with the bat from Beefy 58, Jon 48, George 38 and with the ball Alastair 2-23, Mano 3-25 and Beefster 2-20. George's wicketkeeping was classy with very few byes and 2 good catches. And best of all, EVERYONE contributed to the Team getting another 20 points!
