After being knocked out of the Manchester Premier Cup in midweek, Ashton will be looking to bounce back with another away trip this time to 17th placed Mickleover Sports. After cruelly losing out to Mossley on penalties on Tuesday, Jody Banim will be keen to get his players back focused on the league where Ashton’s away form has so far been very encouraging. The Robins have only lost once on their travels in the league so far this campaign, so the foundation is already in place for Ashton to turn around a series of disappointing results.
Assistant manager Simon Woodford was disappointed in manner of the performance and wants the players to rectify their own individual performances and has encouraged for the experienced players to lead by example on Saturday. “We travel well, I think we’ll do well there and the experienced lads will need to step up and I think they will.”
One to Watch:
Mickleover come into the game of a home defeat to league leaders Shaw Lane on Tuesday night losing out 1-3. The goal scorer for Sports was defender Pablo Mills and Ashton will have to keep an eye on the former Derby County centre back as the 33 year old has scored in his last two games and is a fans favourite at The Dom Amott Arena. Mills was ever present for Mickleover last season and scored 3 goals and with two already this campaign the experienced defender will be looking to equal his tally of last season on Saturday.
