This is it, the start of the season. It’s been a busy pre-season for the Robins with no less than seven new players being signed up for the season ahead by manager Jody Banim. Banim will no doubt be looking to hit the ground running against Nuneaton Borough however he is aware that every team in this league poses a challenge and whichever players pull on the shirt on Saturday will have to be at their best.
Ashton come into this fixture on the back of a 2-1 victory over local side Droylsden FC with Nic Evangelinos and Bohan Dixon scoring for the robins in that win. Nuneaton on the other hand come into this fixture on the back of a 2-1 defeat away to Barwell, Enoch Andoh was Nuneaton’s scorer in that fixture.

ONE TO WATCH:
The one to watch for this encounter is young striker Harry Panayiotou. The 23 year old started his career at Leicester City and made his debut in 2012 as a substitute against Leeds United, he scored the winner in that fixture in injury time and unfortunately that proved to be his only appearance for the former Premier League champions. Loan spells at Port Vale and Raith Rovers followed before he made a permanent move to Barrow. During his time at Barrow he played over 29 games scoring twice. Panayiotou is also a full international, playing for Saint Kitts and Nevis in which he has managed 7 goals in 15 caps for his country. Panayiotou left Barrow at the start of the summer to join Nuneaton Borough and has been tipped by many to be a terrific signing for the fellow National League North Side

LAST TIME WE MET:
The last time the Robin’s faced Nuneaton Borough, they was called Nuneaton town and it was back in 2005 during the robin’s first ever season in the conference north, as it was then known. Phil Eastwood opened the scoring for the robins twelve minutes in before Stuart Whittaker equalised for the away side on twenty nine minutes. Eastwood restored the robins’ lead just before half time. With time running out Nuneaton went in search for an equaliser, the got one on 80 minutes as Whittaker doubled his tally for the afternoon on 80 minutes. It went from bad to worse for the robins as with only minutes left on the clock they conceded a penalty. Stuart Whittaker stepped up and duly converted to secure himself the match ball and a victory for the away side.
