FA Vase 1st Qualifying Round

Not a brilliant day, which started with long delays to our journey on the M4 traveling to our opponents.

The game itself was quite good. We were facing opponents who play a step higher than ourselves and in the first half, despite going a goal down on 36 minutes, we had chances to score but couldn't put them away.

A lapse of concentration within the first minute of the second half saw Brimscombe & Thrupp score a second and that knocked the team off balance. However, Jake Wilson pulled one back to make the score 2-1 with less than 2 minutes on the clock for the second half.

It was all downhill from that point. Our opponents scored again on 62 minutes; then again on 68 minutes. Knocks and injuries were having an effect on Ash United's play and it was almost inevitable that in the final couple of minutes, we conceded the fifth goal. Final score 5-1 to Brimscombe & Thrupp, who will now have to travel themselves in the next round, but with much less of a journey than that faced by Ash.
