Ash United FC 4 Cobham 1
What can I say, at the moment our form and performances have been excellent. We went into this game knowing we had to keep our levels high if we wanted to keep this run going. Cobham were above us in the table and a good organised team. We started the game very slowly and before I could sip my cup of tea we were 0 – 1 down as Cobham broke through our back line a scored with a simple finish.
The early set back didn’t affect us and we played some lovely football in the opening quarter of an hour and shortly after a neat finish by Jay Foster made it 1 – 1. We were now on the front foot and creating lots of chances, Richard Lediju went down the left and into the box. He was then brought down by a sliding tackle, a penalty was awarded and Neil Hardy coolly steeped up to send the keeper the wrong way for 2 – 1 right on the stroke of half time.
We started the second half in complete control of possession and looked to attack at every opportunity. This paid off as Richard Lediju scored a fine goal to make it 3 – 1. We never looked back from this point and another sweeping move led to Richard Lediju scoring again to make it 4 – 1. Richard Lediju is making a name for himself as he now has 12 goals in 11 games.
I made a couple of substitutions to keep the tempo going with Matt Pantony and Matt Kelk coming on. This paid off as Matt Pantony was put in a couple of times in the final few minutes but failed to take his chances. Final score 4 – 1.
Overall a very good performance and now 6 wins in a row, the momentum is definitely with us.
