It was a case of deja vu as in the recent past, when Ash United has come up against a newly promoted team, the result has not always been a favourable one. This match was the rule, rather than an exception to it!!
In the second minute of the game, Luke Cairns scored for Ash and for the next seven minutes it looked like Ash United would be in driving seat for this game. But on 9 minutes, British Airways had the ball in the Ash net to level the score at 1-1.
We then had a crazy 25 minutes in which British Airways scored another 3 goals for no reply and at half-time the visitors were 4-1 up. British Airways Daniel Clifton had helped himself to a first half hat trick and, quite rightly, displayed a beaming smile as he left the pitch.
Ash United Captain, Nick Holmes, pulled one back on 54 minutes, to make it 2-4 to the visitors in the 54th minute. It had to wait then until Giacomo Di-Lullo, back after a relatively lengthy injury, added a third for Ash, to put the pressure on British Airways, in the 82nd minute.
However, the visitors held out and were relieved come the final whistle, with the score at Ash United 3, British Airways 4.
