Askean RFC To Tackle Blood Cancer

By Andrew Jeffrey

Askean RFC hoping to raise awareness for a great charity called Delete Blood Cancer.

Ladies and Gents,

On the 3rd of October 2015 Askean RFC have a league game at home to Greenwich RFC. This game is of significant importance, as the club will be playing for charity. We have teamed up with Delete Blood Cancer, who launched in the UK in February 2013 with a key mission to increase the number of lifesaving blood stem cell donors available in the UK, as they believe that not one single person suffering with a blood cancer should die because they are unable to find a matching blood stem cell donor.

Young men are generally preferred as potential blood stem cell donors, but are outnumbered 2-1 by women on the registry. In order to highlight the need for more young men to step forward, during the Rugby World Cup, Delete Blood Cancer will combine forces with the club and to raise awareness of the charity

On the day the club will be playing an official league game in a change kit of red and white, which represents the charity colours. Members of staff from the charity will be there to support, take photos, offer information on how to sign up (and provide registration), and of course take any charitable donations we as a group are willing to give.

Delete Blood Cancer is a young charity in the UK, but has a big international history, with 25 years worth of experience, across Germany, USA, Poland, Spain and now the UK, with over 5.5 millions donors registered worldwide. All of the day’s antics will then be uploaded to the Delete Blood Cancer Facebook page and Twitter, which currently has 32000+ followers and will feature Askean RFC heavily. Hopefully, this will be the first event of many that we embark upon with Delete Blood Cancer.

So I ask all Askean players past and present and of course all those loyal supporters who have followed us through the years to please attend watch a fantastic game of rugby, show your support for a great charity and show the local and wider community Askean RFC are a friendly welcoming club looking to help raise awareness of the need for more blood stem cell donors and make a positive change.

The evening entertainment will be England Vs Australia in the bar for an 8pm kick off and we can all have a few beers together.

I hope to see you all there and if you require any further information please contact me on apjeffrey13@hotmail.com
